Marvin Tebbit's Thoughts about Eight Seconds

This book is about a boy named John who just hated everything about life. He didn’t like the fact that he was living in a home filled with women his mother and two sisters. John’ best friend Bobby has known John since they were jut little kids. One day John’s father asked John if he wanted to go to a rodeo school for six days, John thought to himself, he should go to get away from everyone for a little while. As John told his buddy Bobby about rodeo school, Bobby said that he was going too. When they got there and got their rooms, they both saw that there were two bags on the other bunk, which belonged to their new roommates Michael and Kit. Michael and Bobby were taking the same class which is roping cattle’s. As for John and Kit, they were taking bull riding classes. John and Kit became really close friends that even when the six days were over they still practiced together, but soon when John found out that Kit was gay. At first he avoided Kit, but later realized that it doesn’t matter if Kit was gay and that he was somewhat in love with Kit but Kit didn’t want to be with John for many personal reasons, but at the end they were still friends.
I think the whole point of this story is that many teens out there are lost about their feelings and are afraid of saying that their gay and many are picked on for being gay, that they shouldn’t be afraid of what they want to be.
